STRATA-SCM® Fine Cellulose Fiber |
"Magnified" |
|
STRATA-SCM® (Seepage Control Material) is a uniquely formulated, fine grade cellulose fiber product, designed to seal permeable formations of all types, in water, synthetic, oil and brine fluids. Formulated from a combination of available cellulose fibers, STRATA-SCM® (Fine) encompasses a wide range of particle sizes and shapes. In order to increase the flexibility of STRATA-SCM® fibrous, stranded and granular cellulose materials are incorporated. All components in STRATA-SCM® are compressible and deformable allowing them to conform to the shape of pore spaces and fractures. This unique trait enables STRATA-SCM® to form a sturdy near well-bore seal minimizing fluid invasion and proportionately reducing cake build-up. A combination of STRATA-SCM® and STRATA-LCM® (Medium Grade Cellulose Material) can handle problems from differential sticking to lost circulation. STRATA-SCM® is most effective when used alone or with STRATA-TROL®.

APPLICATION
(The following are general application descriptions. Recommendations for specific applications are available from Strata Control Services) SEEPAGE LOSS Mix STRATA-SCM® in a pill at a concentration of 8-15 ppb and sweep the wellbore periodically. When chronic seepage is occurring a system treatment of 2-6 ppb is recommended. System maintenance can be achieved by incorporating subsequent sweeps.
|
LOST CIRCULATION Mix STRATA-SCM® through the chemical hopper in a pill containing 60% STRATA-LCM® (Medium) and 40% STRATA-SCM®. Fluid density will determine the total concentration that can be mixed. Total concentrations of 25-60 ppb are common. After circulation is regained a STRATA-SCM® / STRATA-LCM® sweeping program is recommended to maintain the integrity of the seal during drilling operations. DIFFERENTIAL STICKING PREVENTION Prior to drilling depleted zone add 2-4 ppb STRATA-SCM® to the system. Mix a pill containing 8-15 ppb STRATA-SCM® and 8-15 ppb STRATA-TROL®. Sweep the hole as new sands are drilled and every 4-6 hours depending on hole conditions . Sweep the hole prior to tripping, logging and running casing.
