STRATA-LCM® Meduim cellulose fiber blend |
"Magnified" |
|
STRATA-LCM® (Lost Circulation Material) is primarily used for control of partial or total losses in water, synthetic, oil and brine fluids. STRATA-LCM® (Medium) is a unique combination of granular, stranded and fibrous cellulose materials sized to compliment STRATA-SCM® (Fine) and cover size ranges above those covered by the smaller STRATA-SCM® (Fine) designation. A combination of STRATA-SCM® (Fine) and STRATA-LCM® will solve loss problems from seepage to total losses. The unique characteristics of STRATA-LCM® allow it to seal formations while not damaging downhole tools.

APPLICATION
(The following are general application descriptions. Recommendations for specific applications are available from Strata Control Services) SEEPAGE LOSS (10 - 20 bbls/hr, or greater): In cases where seepage is in excess of 10-20 bbls/hr, a pill consisting of 60% STRATA-LCM® and 40% STRATA-SCM® (Fine) is recommended. Pills volume should cover a minimum of 500' of open hole. Additional pills should be pumped as hole conditions dictate.
|
LOST CIRCULATION Mix STRATA-SCM® (Fine) through the chemical hopper in a pill containing 60% STRATA-LCM® and 40% STRATA-SCM® (Fine). Fluid density will determine the total concentration that can be mixed. Total concentrations of 25-60 ppb are common. It is advisable to spot the pill across the loss zone, then pull up into the last casing. The pill mixture may be squeezed (applying 50-100 psi) into the formation. After circulation is regained a STRATA-SCM® (Fine) / STRATA-LCM® sweeping program is recommended to maintain the integrity of the seal during drilling operations. DIFFERENTIAL STICKING PREVENTION Prior to drilling depleted zone add 2-4 ppb STRATA-SCM® (Fine) to the system. Mix a pill containing 8-15 ppb STRATA-SCM® (Fine) and 8-15 ppb STRATA-LCM®. Sweep the hole as new sands are drilled and every 4-6 hours depending on hole conditions. Sweep the hole prior to tripping, logging, or running casing.
